Jules Richard Verascope

This example from c1908 is a beautifully built camera and makes stereoscopic negatives 45x107mm

Jules Richard produced a wide range of models from 1890 through to the 1920s using the 45 X 107mm format.

Many accessories were produced for use with the camera including roll-film backs, printers, enlargers and viewers.

This model has two shutter speeds for a dull day or a sunny day. This works well for 100 ISO film.

The camera has a magazine for 12 pieces of film mounted in thin film holders. After each shot the magazine is drawn out causing the top-exposed-piece of film to drop to the bottom of the magazine such that when the magazine is pushed back in that film ends up at the bottom and fresh piece is in place at the top. A counter shows how many shots are left.

The images produced from the verascope are designed to be transparencies and viewed with transmitted light coming on through the back of a viewer like these. These are un-restored viewers by Richard  - the camera's maker. The images could be on glass or celluloid.
